The Missouri Division of Tourism invited Viva Cuba member Jane Reed to represent Cuba, Missouri at a reception and dinner at the Kemp Auto Museum in St. Louis on a recent Sunday evening. There were 52 participants from the Automobile Club of America attending the event to learn about Route 66 tourist attractions in Missouri.
Other cities that showcased their attractions were Joplin, Springfield, and Lebanon, as well as, Route 66 representatives from Meramec Caverns, Rt. 66 State Park, and Chain of Rocks Bridge in St. Louis.
“The event was worthwhile on several levels,”stated Reed. “Jill Barnett, who went along to help set up our display, and I met some of the representatives from Missouri Tourism and other towns and attractions. It was a great opportunity to tell about Cuba and its attractions and local events. The event also sparked some ideas that we may act on later. It’s always good to get out and see what others are doing.”
The Kemp Museum in Chesterfield, Missouri is a beautiful venue for an event and if you like classic cars, we recommend it as an attraction to see. The Missouri Division of Tourism picked a great location to hold the AAA event and chose some Route 66/St. Louis foods such as St. Louis toasted ravioli appetizers and Ted Drewe’s custard for the appreciative AAA group.
All the representatives were asked to provide a door prize for their area, and Viva Cuba’s gift basket held MO Hick BBQ sauce, wine from the Fanning US66 Outpost and Belmont Vineyards, T-shirts from Viva Cuba and the World’s Largest Rocking Chair, a Mural City Candy bar, and art cards of Cuba’s murals. Cuba was described as a “charming” community when its prize was drawn.
