The former Hotel Cuba building has been condemned.

At this time the former Hotel Cuba building at 509 East Main has been condemned after a Saturday night fire left it unsafe. Extensive damage to the electrical system caused Public Works Director Bob Baldwin to order the apartments unfit for habitation. It will require extensive repairs to be habitable again.

UPDATE 1/11/11  Owner Gary Killeen is rehabbing the Hotel Cuba building. We will try to bring an update to readers.

Latest UPDATE as of November 28, 2011: Contractor Terry West of Bourbon purchased the Hotel Cuba property and remodeled it using green practices and solar panels on the roof. He is aware of the building’s history and plans to maintain the historic footprint. The modern apartments are now available for renting.
