Usually, when we hear the term art, we think of paintings, sculpture, or maybe dance. But Cuba, Missouri is lucky to have a needle artist of award winning stature and her studio in our midst.
Pat Cookson, an Indian Hills resident, uses her needle to create fiber art of significance and meaning. Often the pieces reflect happenings in her own life.
Cookson is from a long line of needle artists, and she has family pieces and collections on display in her Indian Hills Gallery, which is named the Two Pats Gallery to honor her mother, also named Pat , who taught her many of her skills. Recently, Cookson, won a national award for her silk ribbon embroidered fireplace screen from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Cookson became a member of the organization in 2010.

The Children’s Corner in Cookson’s Gallery displays many of her hand crafted talents: hand-painted dolls with vintage outfits, a hand-hooked rug, an embroidered quilt to honor children’s writer Beatrix Potter with her characters in fabric, and much more.
Cookson’s lace collection holds many examples of fine lace.
In the corner of her gallery, Cookson has all her materials and equipment close at hand so that she can continue her passion in the fiber arts.
