Spyderfest US 2011 is over. Most of the spyder riders have left town and more will be written about the rides they took, the money they raised for Cuba’s Friday Backpack for Kids program, and the mural tours that they took.
But there was a moment during the event that was my favorite. It was on Saturday night, at Recklein Commons when the Spyders recongized their own veterans by Cuba’s Veterans Memorial. Their veterans stood in front of the other riders while their speaker spoke of freedom, sacrifice and service.
Then at the end of address, “Im proud to be American” played, and after a moment Len Damouth of Cowtown USA stepped forward to be the first to offer his personal appreciaton to the veterans. More followed, and a few moments in time were created that will be long remembered.
See it for yourself.
