We woke to a snowy Christmas Eve in historic Cuba this morning. Nature did its thing with some natural beautification. Although it was early in town,Gordoz Cafe had some breakfast eaters, the city crews were out plowing the streets, Mace’s Grocery had some early shoppers, and the Wagon Wheel Motel had Route 66 travelers continuing their travels after an overnight stay.
The murals presented some odd warm-weather scenes when trimmed with snow.
Whether you’re on the way to grandmother’s house or doing a little nesting at home, Viva Cuba hopes that you have time to view the natural beauty around us and to find a little time for peace and joy.
In case you have forgotten take a look at December 25, 2009 in the Mural City. Was it a White Christmas?
By way, the sock monkey got some new jeans to go with his Nikes just in time for the snow.
A couple of updates from the evening…lights in the darkness…
Thanks for sharing. I love my home town of Cuba, although Michigan is now my home, and I am currently spending the winter in Florida. I miss my family in Michigan and Missouri, but I love the warmer weather of Florida. We visit Cuba often and have stayed recently at Wagon Wheel and also my wedding night there 45 years ago. I love the murals that Cuba has placed all over. Thank you
We appreciate your loyalty to Cuba and always like to hear from Cubans who are in other parts of the country or the world. I imagine that more Cubans (Missouri-style) will be visiting Florida after the holidays.
As usual Jane, you did a beautiful job showcasing Cuba! Thank you. Our “boy” looks cute in his jeans.
Jane, what beautiful pictures. I have decided snow always looks better through the lens of some other persons camera. My niece stopped by on her way home to St. Louis Saturday, and took a lot of photos around my yard. We have a lot of pine trees and they look great with the snow on them. Keep showing us new things to discover in 2011. (Love the monkeys)
