A couple of weeks ago, the blog featured a few businesses that used plantings to make their businesses more attractive and add to the beautification of Cuba.
The last couple of weeks, I have been taking photos of some residential plantings around town. I must disclose that I have some personal prejudices about what makes a yard, porch, or lawn attractive.
First, I think the yard should be clipped and free of clutter. It is the canvas for the focal points of the yard. Secondly, I think too many focal points, especially those that are man-made, are–too much. This is a fine line though and is based a lot on personal preference. Gardening is a way for someone to express their individuality.
That said, a run around town showcases a variety of ways that gardeners enjoy the outdoors and embellish the sights of Cuba. I snapped some shots to share with readers. I didn’t always get the best angle since I was trying not to trespass in people’s yards.
I am not going to identify homes or addresses, but I if you see your contribution here, know that I admire your plantings and design. In a few weeks, the plantings will show even more abundantly as the growing season advances.
These are just a few of the pleasing sights that I saw, and I will share more in the weeks ahead.
