Cuba, MO: Viva Cuba members gathered yesterday to plant the black planters and other assorted planters around town in anticipation of full, lush pots of flowers during the summer. The plants always look meager when they are placed in the pots in the spring. But with some tending and water, they flourish to fill the pots. It takes a little faith.
After picking up plants at Spurgeon’s, our mobil planting unit and a group of Viva Cuba volunteers moved around the historic area planting, fertilizing, and watering. A little trash pickup was involved as we moved from planter to planter.

Viva Cuba has an open policy on membership. Gene Beyer's dog Scooter volunteered to help on this task. We don't know Scooter's breed, but we don't think he is a member of the working class. He seemed to be more in a supervisory capacity.

Jill Barnett has a litter pickup disorder. She cannot pass litter without picking it up. Friends and family may have to stage an intervention.
After a couple hours, the planters once again held the promise of growth for a new season. Gene and Scooter will keep them watered, and nature will supply the sunshine. Soon the vines will be trailing over the sides, and the begonias will bloom. Have faith.
