Cuba, MO Route 66 Mural City: Viva Cuba would like to recognize one of our award winning local eateries.
The April 2010 Rural Missouri Magazine recognized Missouri Hick Bar-B-Q for what Cuba, MO residents and travelers have long known: they have some good eats. The official recognition named the restaurant Best BBQ in Southeast Missouri.
The restaurant at 913 East Washington, which is also Route 66, offers BBQ, smoked meats, a 5-6 pound loaded baked potato, five homemade BBQ sauces, and a lot more. The parking lot is often filled with cars, motorcycles, and buses from around the U.S. Customers come from around the world as travelers make their dream trip on Route 66.
Before you even enter the restaurant, the tantalizing aroma of smoked meats greets you. Outside is a working water wheel attached to the building. The rustic decor and handmade furniture reflect owner Dennis Meiser’s interest in native architecture.
Desserts and a selection of beers and wines accompany meal choices. Missouri Hick now features its own branded beers and BBQ sauces so that you can take some of the MO Hick taste home with you. It’s a fun place with waitresses who wear T-shirts that say “MO Hick Chicks.” The Chicks will be happy to pose for a photo with customers, give directions, or answer questions about the area.
A 2008 article in the Cuba Free Press “MO Hick recognized as area’s best BBQ eatery,” gives more detail about the restaurant. The restaurant originally opened February 12, 2002.
Seven days a week, Meiser, the Chicks, and the rest of the staff are ready with to serve you. Call MO Hick BBQ 573-885-6791.
