Preview of Chair-i-table Auction offering…

Mural City Gothic should be an "in-demand" piece at this year's auction.

Mural City Gothic should be an “in-demand” piece at this year’s auction.

For most of us, when we look at this chair painted by artist Ray Harvey, we are reminded of why he is an artist, and we aren’t.

When preliminary photos came in of artist Ray Harvey’s painted chair for the Saturday, May 8th Chair-i-table auction, it was forwarded to Viva Cuba Members. Responses varied from “I want it” to “Wow!”

The chair is an imaginative play on American artist Grant Wood’s American Gothic painting. We’re calling it Mural City Gothic. We think this chair will be an “in-demand” piece at this year’s auction, which will be held at Java.net. Some chairs will be sold at silent auction and others by live auction. See the flyer below for details.

Ray Harvey of New Haven painted the Bette Davis mural and the mural panels on the Phillips 66 station for Viva Cuba. He also painted the My Place Tires mural, murals at the Catholic Church, and murals at the Victorian Manor assisted living facility. You can find this work on the Viva Cuba website.

Before the auction, we will publish all of the Chair-i-table Auction offerings on this blog, but we just had to give you a peak at this one.
