The bidding was brisk. At the end, the checkbooks came out, and the final results were tallied.

On Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Java.net Books and Gifts, chair collectors gathered to bid on Viva Cuba’s latest group of customized chairs, tables, and benches.  Artists once more rallied to provide Viva Cuba with a striking array of painted furniture that was available for bidding.

Mary Miller and her staff at Java.net kept the crowd happy with coffees, chocolates, ice cream, and lunches.

Auctioneers Bruce Campbell and Franky Todd stirred the crowd at the live auction portion of the event.  After the silent auction ended at 12:30 pm, Viva Cuba patrons had added over $2700 to Viva Cuba’s coffers for future beautification projects and mural maintenance.

Thanks to the artists and bidders, more flowers will be planted and beauty will increase on the streets of Cuba.
